Can’t believe I’m clashing with my crush, Hrithik, says Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor has been basking in the glory of her recent success. The actor, whose last film recently crossed the `100 crore mark, is now looking forward to her upcoming releases. Her next, in which she stars opposite Shahid Kapoor, will clash at the box office with a film that features her childhood crush, Hrithik Roshan. And Shraddha couldn’t be more excited about that.

Your film will be competing with Hrithik’s. How does that feel?
I can’t believe I’m clashing with my idol. I’m definitely going to watch his film. I’ve been told that it’s a great weekend for films to release (the four-day extended weekend, October 2-5). The trailer of my film has been received well, and I’m looking forward to watching Hrithik’s film too. I hope the hype around the films continues to stay, and I hope both do well.

Hrithik often speaks highly of the young lot of actors in Bollywood today.
He has been very sweet. He had sent me a message after Aashiqui 2 (2013) released. When I read it, I almost died. I had to be brought back to life to respond to it.

Has it been a conscious decision on your part to choose films that are the usual song-and-dance sagas?
I take my decisions from the heart. I’d love to do a song-and-dance film, but I have to be convinced about the project. I’m not averse to commercial cinema.

How does your family feel about your recent success?
They’re very happy and thrilled. They’re also proud of me and if you ask me, it is lovely to see their smiling faces. In fact, it was my dad who told me that my film had crossed the `100 crore mark. He is very regular about keeping updates. I am even planning to organise a dinner with my entire family to celebrate, but that will depend on everyone’s availability. It will be a small gathering and I’ll have to take permission from my physical trainer because I’m on a strict diet for my upcoming film.

So, will you be losing weight?
No, please don’t assume that it’s a random diet to lose weight. It is, in fact, one to gain some muscle.

Varun (Dhawan, actor) has said that you’re his only co-star he has grown up with. And now you’ll be romancing your childhood friend.
Romancing Varun will be very amusing. It’s going to be insane amount of fun. I think working with a friend will be great. Though it will be very funny, but we will have to figure out a way to develop chemistry and to do romantic scenes with each other

Ayushmann's ready with his next song!

New Delhi, Aug. 8 -- Actor Ayushmann Khurrana is known for his melodious voice as much as he's known for his acting skills. The Vicky Donor star, who has released five songs so far - including Paani Da Rang, Saadi Galli Aaja and O Heeriye - is now looking forward to release another single next month.

"It's called Mitti Di Khushboo... it's unlike any of my previous songs, except that this one is also a romantic song. But it's not the usual acoustic, soft rock types. Instead, it has more electronic style music," says Ayushmann, adding that the song is a composition from his college days and has been written and composed by his friend Rochak Kohli.

The actor-singer also plans to shoot a video for the song - something that will be partly shot in Punjab and maybe SouthEast Asia or San Francisco. And guess what, the video will also feature actor Huma Qureshi. "Huma and I are friends. I wanted a 'Punjabi kudi' type girl in the video and she fits the bill perfectly. Huma has heard the song and she loved it," says Ayushmann.

Talking about his musical journey so far, the 29-year-old says: "I've only released a few songs till now and I'm thankful to people in the industry for liking my music."

While the actor hasn't taken up performing live big time for now, he does do a few corporate shows, every now and then. But Ayushmann adds that some of his shows abroad have done really well. "One in Texas, US saw almost 35,000 Indians attend the concert. And, to see such a crowd turn up for your music, feels great," he says.

Is he up for performing at music festivals in India? "I'd love to do something like that soon. In fact, there is something developing on that front," concludes Ayushmann.

When Katrina is away, films are delayed!

Katrina Kaif is one busy actor these days. As a result, the shoot of her film with Ranbir Kapoor, that was initially supposed to take place in September, might get delayed. It is being directed by Anurag Basu.

The actor recently finished shooting portions of Siddharth Anand’s action film with Hrithik Roshan in Prague, Czech Republic; then, almost immediately, she had to head to London, UK, for the schedule of Kabir Khan’s movie opposite Saif Ali Khan.

Although Katrina is set to return to the city this week, life isn’t going to get any easier. "Once she’s back in Mumbai, she will have to shoot for both these films simultaneously. She will be shuttling between the two sets," says a source close to the actor, adding, "Then, she will get a few days to work on Anurag’s movie, but since the release of Siddharth’s film will be close by then, she will need to make time for its promotional activities."

Apparently, Anurag was planning a long shooting schedule for his detective film in September, which he may now have to delay. Meanwhile, in September, even Ranbir is expected to be busy with regards to a football tournament in which he owns a franchise.

When we contacted Anurag, he refrained from divulging any details, but he did say, "The September [shoot] dates will have to be rescheduled. However, we hope to wrap up the film by October or November this year."

Hate Story 2 earns 5.46 crore, Humpty Sharma is a smash hit!

With none of the big stars missing from the marquee this Friday, expectations from the box office were none too high. Three films that released this weekend included Hate Story 2, Pizza 3D and Amit Sahni ki List.

However, Hate Story 2 surprised with its good run at the BO on day one of its release. It made a respectable Rs. 5.46 crore on Friday and this erotic thriller starring Jay Bhanushali and Surveen Chawla seems to be set for a decent run.

The other two films didn't fare too well though. While Pizza 3D starring Akshay Oberoi, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Dipannita Sharma earned Rs. 75.03 lakh, Vir Das' Amit Sahni ki List made Rs. 68.6 lakh.

Last week's release Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania is meanwhile a certified hit. The Alia Bhatt-Varun Dhawan-starrer has made Rs. 56.53 crore till Friday. Meanwhile, Shraddha Kapoor-Siddharth Malhotra-starrer Ek Villain has emerged the third biggest grosser of the year with total earnings of Rs. 105.62 crore.

Top of the pile in this list are Salman Khan's Jai Ho and Akshay Kumar's Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty.

Ek Villain crosses Rs. 100 crore mark!

Director Mohit Suri's Ek Villain is continuing its blazing run at the box office. This Sidharh Malhotra-Shraddha Kapoor-Riteish Deshmukh-starrer has entered the Rs. 100 crore club in just the second week of its release, with the latest figures pegged at Rs. 101.31 crore.

Ek Villain's first-weekend collection figures stood at Rs. 50.7 crore.

It touched the second highest opening day collection of the year at Rs. 16.72 crore (second only to Rs. 17.8 croe for Salman Khan's Jai Ho), beating Sajid Khan's Humshakals (Rs 12.5).

Interestingly, Ek Villain was screened across 2,539 screens: Jai Ho, in comparison, was screened at almost double the number of screens, and collected Rs. 60 crore in its first weekend.

The total box office collection of Ek Villain stood at Rs. 81.5 crore a week after the film hit theatres.

The success of the film has also given a fillip to Riteish Deshmukh's career, who can now also boast of a hat-trick: Housefull 2 (2012), Grand Masti (2013) and now Ek Villain (2014).

Meanwhile, the Vidya Balan-Ali Fazal-starrer Bobby Jasoos, which hit theatres last Friday, has managed to collect 10.85 crore in one week.

6 things which make Kick a blockbuster!

As if you needed a reason to believe that Salman Khan's Kick will be one of the biggest hits of 2014. Add Jacqueline Fernandes, Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui to the mix and you know have a winner at hand.

For now, this directorial debut of producer Sajid Nadiadwala is riding high on pre-release buzz and the industry just cannot wait for the opening day.

Interestingly, Salman Khan's Jai Ho is currently the biggest opener of 2014 with a collection of Rs. 17 crore on day one. Ek Villain's came a close second: the Siddharth Malhotra-Shraddha Kapoor-Riteish Deshmukh-starrer clocked in at 16.72 crore.

Kick is set to be screened in over 5,000 screens worldwide -- around 4,400 screens in India and 700 abroad.

Here are 6 reasons why we think Kick will prove to be a phenomena for the industry.

1. Star power
Salman Khan, like Shah Rukh and Aamir, enjoys a fan-following that ensures huge turn-out of fans who believe in marking their presence for the first day, first show. The film's trailer has only added to the buzz: it promises fireworks of the kind seldom seen in India. Rest assured, it will be much better than Jai Ho, Salman's previous release this year. Just picture him as the 'devil' and you know what's the excitement all about!

2. Talent bonus
Surprisingly, it is not just Salman Khan or Jacqueline who will draw crowds to the theatres this time. Sajid Nadiadwala has roped in a string of brilliant actors -- Randeep Hooda, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sanjay Mishra and Saurabh Shukla -- who have it in them to steal screen space from any superstar. Remember Randeep Hooda in Highway? Not a fan of Nawazuddin Siddiqui yet? It will be fun to watch Hooda and Siddiqui in this masala flick. Shukla and Mishra add that extra intrigue to the impressive line-up.

3. World-class action
Reports suggest that Kick's attrition rate has been phenomenal, and almost unheard of: about 57 cars, 13 buses and one helicopter have been blown up in its action sequences! From the Dabangg Khan on the railway tracks to his gravity-defying action sequences on a building rooftop, Kick promises to pale all that we saw in Dabangg or Ready, for example.

4. Catchy dialogues
"Mere baare mein jyada mat sochna, dil mein aata hoon, samajh mein nahi" is only one of the many catchy dialogues in Kick.
Sample a few more from the trailer:
"Wo jeena bhi koi jeena hai jisme koi kick na pagli"
"Paida to main bhi shareef hua tha, par sharafat se apni kabhi nahi bani."
"Eid aa rahi hai, aur wo apni Eidi lene zarur aayega."
"Aap Devil ke peeche, Devil aapke peeche. Too much fun!"

5. Peppy numbers
Watch out for Salman Khan crooning for this one: it is one treat his fans won't forget for a long time. Honey Singh's title track for the film, Devil Yaar Na Miley, is foot-tapping and has set YouTube on fire for obvious reasons.

6. Chetan Bhagat
Lastly, with Kick, author Chetan Bhagat has realised his dream of debuting in Bollywood. Bhagat has co-written the screenplay for the film. If his books are any indication, Kick is sure to have cheesy dialogues and filmy lines et all.

Seven Bollywood action movies to watch out for!

After Kick, are you ready for some more jumping, boxing, punching and chasing?

Bollywood lovers, brace yourself for a slew of action-packed high-on stunts movies slated for release in the remaining 2014 calendar.

Salman Khan's Kick has already set a high standard by zooming into the Rs. 100 crore club within its first week itself and now, the stage is set for entertainers like Singham Returns, Mardaani, Mary Kom, Desi Kattey, Bang Bang, Haider, Happy New Year, Tevar and Tamanchey.

1. Singham Returns
If the success of the 2011 movie Singham is anything to go by, Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham will roar again upon his return in Rohit Shetty's Singham Returns, releasing on Independence Day.

The Ajay-Shetty duo has dished out "some unique and different stunts", says a source in  the production team - and that's a fact well-endorsed by the movie's trailers.

2. Mardaani
Gear up for Rani Mukerji's dare-me-if-you-can look in Mardaani, produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF). The film isn't about stunts, but they are integral to the plot and what's worth looking out for is the fact that Rani has been trained professionally to carry out the stunts.

"Mardaani is not a stunt-based film and is a must-watch movie only for 'action-buffs'. The action scenes are very real and integral to the story without people flying around after being punched," Rafiq Gangjee, vice president (Marketing and Communications), YRF, said. "Rani has been trained by professionals of Krav Maga, an Israeli martial art form, and her actions are true to life. Her role is that of a senior Police Inspector of the Crime Branch who goes after the child trafficking mafia and she has played that role to perfection without going into unrealistic fight sequences and 'daredevilry'," he added.

3. Mary Kom
Talking about Bollywood ladies in action, you wouldn't like to miss the punches that Priyanka Chopra seems to have packed up in Mary Kom. As the Olympic bronze medallist boxer onscreen, the National Award winning performer has "undergone extreme physical endurance to prepare for the character and delivered a knock-out performance that has set a new bar for the women protagonists in Bollywood," says Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

"Action sequences have been an integral part of cinema, but today these sequences are real, they are gritty and the stars train resiliently to be able to deliver the same," Andhare said.

True that - be it Rani and Priyanka or Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan - actors go through months of training to pull off tough action sequences despite the prevalence and use of advanced technology, which is believed to have eased out the process of making stars fly in the air, jump down high-rises and perform other dazzling and dangerous stunts.

4. Desi Kattey
One will also agree that the old world charm of 'dhishoom dhishoom' action does not seem to bore the audiences either - and that's why Desi Kattey, with its raw and gritty stunts, seems like it will hit the right chords with the audience.

5. Bang Bang
In contrast, there's Bollywood's own 'superhero' Hrithik Roshan in Bang Bang! The Greek god of Indian cinema is ready to surpass the standards of action he himself set with Dhoom 2 and the Krrish series. He zooms out of the sea, swings like Tarzan and his bike stunts are to be watched out for.

6. Haider
There's also the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Haider, an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet by Vishal Bhardwaj. A sneak peak into the forthcoming movie via its trailer, tells it's high on guns, explosions and violence.

7. Happy New Year
And how can the year be complete without a dose of Shah Rukh Khan? So, there's Happy New Year, which has a multi-starrer punch with Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Sonu Sood.

THALA 55 GOT ME A KICK! - ASHWIN

One can easily say without doubt that Ashwin's career graph has zapped up after his role as a police officer in Mankatha. The handsome lad found himself a role in Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, and is now a busy boy shooting for his supernatural thriller titled Zero.
Recently, the actor and his unit have visited the sets of Thala 55 and happened to have met the director Gautham Menon and Ajith himself. This is what Ashwin had to say post the incident. (via his Twitter page)
"Had the good luck of visiting the set shooting nearby where I was shooting.saw Gautham sir and his team after a long time. The entire unit seems like one big family, positive vibes!Of course Ajith sir always at his warmest,my unit boys were on cloud 9 meeting him. One boy full smiles, other boy speechless by his humility. he has that effect on people! i got a kick out of seeing how happy they were after!"
Ashwin is now shooting for his next film Zero which has Shivada Nair of Nedunchalai fame paired opposite to him. The film also stars JD Chakravarty. Ashwin is said to play the role of a social worker in the film, and he says that this is one project which he surely will be proud of. Major portions of the film were shot at Binny Mills in Chennai. Directed by Arun, this thriller will have music by Nivas Prasanna who impressed one and all with his tunes in Thegidi. It is also to be noted that Ashwin's next romantic thriller Megha, is slated for release this month.

AFTER TREMENDOUS RECEPTION, 60 SCREENS INCREASED FOR JIGARTHANDA

Normally the second week screen count for a Tamil will be lesser than its opening weekend number but Jigarthanda is an exception. Yes, the distributors of Jigarthanda have increased the screen count by 60 screens in Tamil Nadu.
As media, film fraternities are lauding the film percentage of occupancy has been increased and in a press statement producer of Jigarthanda thanked everyone for their kind words about the film .
Popular Bollywood studios have approached Kathiresan for buying the remake rights of Jigarthanda and Kathiresan is planning to produce the Hindi version along with a popular Bollywood studio.

ROAD MAP - AN EXCLUSIVE SCOOP ON IRUMBU KUTHIRAI

Irumbu Kuthirai is Atharvaa Murali's upcoming film, where he stars alongside Priya Anand, Raai Laxmi and Johnny Tri Nguyen of 7am Arivu fame. The film is directed by newcomer Yuvaraj Bose and has music by GV.Prakash Kumar. The audio launch of the film took place today, followed by a presser. Cinemalead brings you some tidbits about the film in our exclusive report here.
As it came from the director's mouth, Irumbu Kuthirai is a romantic film in a bikers backdrop. After working as an assistant to Arivazhagan in Vallinam, Yuvaraj Bose approached AGS with this script, which then materialized. Yuvaraj said that the film will start off introducing the characters, and then narrate incidents which happened over the course of one night.
Speaking about the cast of the film, Yuvaraj started with Atharvaa who was roped in because they were in need of a boy next door image. Atharvaa plays the role of a young lad who has just finished his final year of college. Though Irumbu Kuthirai is a commercial film, a lot of hardwork was needed to bring out the genuine image of a biker. Though the buzz is running around that Atharvaa is having a six pack, it is not actually a six pack. Yuvaraj tells us that it is an 8 pack, and Atharvaa has toned his body driven on his own interests. Irumbu Kuthirai does not have a torso driven fight sequence, yet the hero's character required a well sculpted physique.
Talking about the villain Johnny Tri Nguyen, Yuvaraj reveals that he is basically a biker, and was waiting for a script of that sort. Johnny is extensively trained in martial arts, so his style of performing stunts are different. He doesn't need any ropes unlike our Tamil heroes, a truly professional dude. Apart from the main cast, Irumbu Kuthirai has Devadarshini in an uncommon role. She will playing Atharvaa's mother in the film.
Irumbu Kudhirai has unique music by GV.Prakash, who has done things which he has never done before for this film. Though he is busy, GVP has superb time management skills, says the director.
Yuvaraj said that Irumbu Kuthirai has two cinematographers - RB. Gurudev and Gopi Amarnath. The latter was used as a special weapon for the action scenes. The film was mostly shot at Pondicherry, and then Mahe at Kerala. A few scenes were shot in Italy due to the availability of bikes, but the story of the film does not travel to Italy.
Each of the bikes used in the film cost about 20-30 lakhs, and are very bulky and difficult to transport. They can clock speeds of upto 250kmph.
"I have driven at 220kmph" says the second heroine, Raai Laxmi. Being a fan of bikes since her college days, she admits that she did this film with a lot of interest and excitement. Hello Brother is her song in the film, which is choreographed by Kalyan master. Her costumes in the film will be both rugged and colorful, unlike the usual biker girl costumes which exhibit a tomboyish look.
Cinemalead wishes Team Irumbu Kuthirai all the very best for their film, which might hit the screens in the final week of August.
